Themes don’t work after 2.6 upgrade (Godaddy host)

  • I’m pretty much a newbie with WordPress. I created my blog for the first time in July, installing WordPress through GoDaddy and importing my posts from Blogger. I recently upgraded to 2.6 through GoDaddy and to my dismay found that the Themes no longer work. I tried restoring to 2.5 and the problem remained. I upgraded again to 2.6 and then today to 2.6.2. Still the problem remains.

    Basically the graphics disappeared. The sidebar is below the posts. All the themes look the same except for some reason the font changes when I choose the Atahualpa theme. Otherwise the themes are all blank with the sidebar below the posts.

    Any help resolving this would be greatly appreciated!

  • Does anyone have a solution for this? I have the same problem. I lost all of my images and my theme after trying to upgrade on GoDaddy. I then rolled back the version of WordPress but it still is not working. Any help?

    Moshu is now my favorite moderator! He fixed my problem. I’ll have to leave it to him to explain how. I’m simply enjoying the miraculous “return” of my Themes ?? Yeah! ::happy dance::

    After getting the FTP access info from uusoul, I went to the site and looked around, searching for unusual things.
    I noticed an unexpected .htaccess file in the wp-content folder with one single line –
    deny from all
    That was all in it, nothing else.
    I deleted it. The site came back to life.

    Deleting the .htaccess from the wp-content folder worked for this user, too:

    I’m in the same situation, for the same reasons. Will not one-click-update again.

    Removing .htaccess has not worked for me. Well, I renamed it, to be precise.
