Themes not adding in 2.1

  • I’ve downloaded several themes, unzipped them and loaded the folders into wp-content/themes/ several times…but it’s not appearing in the themes dialogue on the control panel! There’s no error message…it’s just as if I had never uploaded it at all. It doesn’t appear for me to even select it.

    I’ve done this before in 2.0 with no problem…am I doing anything wrong?

  • Are the permissions on the new theme directories and files the same as the default and classic theme directories and files?

    I did right click > File Attributes and got the following for all four (only two, classic and default are showing up):

    Owner permissions
    Read Write Execute

    Group
    Read Execute

    Public
    Read Execute

    I know this is a silly question to ask…but did you asign a seperate folder within the themes folder on your website to accomodate each of the themes you uploaded?

    A separate folder is created automatically when the zip file extracts, so yes.

    If you do that it also can happen that you end up with double folders, like:
    wp-content/themes/mynewtheme/mynewtheme/

    Thanks everyone for your help…as it turns out I had a second copy of WP installed in another directory from a different project. I was installing the theme in that one instead and didn’t realize it. Real slick. ??
