Themify Base: Displaying posts of one category on the home page

I’m using Themify Base theme and I would like to display posts of the Home category on the Home page, one at a time and in full.

After a two-day research I tried this solution https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/how-to-make-front-page-show-full-blog-posts-w-pictures?replies=5#post-5685227 but it didn’t work.

I also tried this one to no avail https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Child_Themes

I don’t know much about coding, so I’m not sure whether the problem lies with the way I prepared the style.css and loop.php documents.
