• Hello. I don’t know at what point this happened, but the advertising blocks of the Yandex Advertising Network (YAN) disappeared from the AMP pages of the site. The ad blocks are installed correctly and they are present in the code of the regular PC version of the pages, but they are not present in the code of the AMP version of the pages. I also note that nothing was done on the site except updating plugins and there were ad blocks on AMP pages before! So the problem is clearly with your plugin!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Thanks for opening a support topic, hopefully we can assist. Firstly can you share how you’re adding your Yandex Advertising Blocks to your site? I can see some amp-ad code evident on your canonical (non AMP) URLs which doesn’t exist on your AMP URLs. Are you adding the blocks directly into your posts with the default WordPress editor or using a plugin or shortcodes?

It may also be easier to troubleshoot this using transitional mode if you’d like to switch temporarily to this mode within your AMP plugin configurations.

To add ad blocks, I use the “Ad’s Placer” plugin. I will note that I have been using this plugin for three years and ad blocks used to work, but now they are not there! I also noticed that the “Advertising” item was missing in the AMP settings of the “Supported Templates” plugin. I’m not sure, but there was such a point before.
P.S. I tried “Transitional Mode”. It doesn’t work either.

Thanks for the update. Can you share a link to the Ads’ Placer plugin so I can take a look?

It might be worth attempting to insert your Yandex AMP compatible ad code inside a custom HTML block also.

I also noticed that the “Advertising” item was missing in the AMP settings of the “Supported Templates” plugin. I’m not sure, but there was such a point before.

If your URLs are part of an “Advertising” post type or template and this was disabled then there would be no AMP version available for those URLs. For the URL you provided there is an AMP version available so this configuration isn’t applicable.

Yes, of course. Here is the link to the plugin: https://ru.www.ads-software.com/plugins/adsplacer/

Thanks for sharing. I’ve tested the same plugin and I found no issues with how it implements ads on AMP URLs.

I did notice from checking your amp-ad in your non AMP URLs that it has an invalid width attribute, width=”null”. Can you check the formatting of your amp-ads and define a width? As it’s invalid the AMP plugin would have by default “removed” this from AMP URLs. You can however check this is the case by using the AMP plugins validation tool (AMP > Validated URLS).

Let me know once you define a valid width and I can also check your Yandex ads once more.

Yes, you’re right. I manually changed the height and width values to width=” 300 “height=”300” and after that the ad blocks appeared. I have already reported a problem and an error in the ad block code to the Yandex Advertising Network. Thanks!

Great to hear that worked for you! And also great that you reported it to the Yandex team, which in turn may assist other users.

If you happen to encounter any further queries be sure to get in touch. And if you’ve been using the AMP plugin for a while be sure to share your thoughts on the plugin so far.

Note also that you may have further advertising opportunities if using the plugin in transitional mode, with your widgets and other content areas also appearing. We’ve added some documentation to the plugins website for assistance with the most common issue when using a non compatible theme.

This worked on the PC version of the AMP pages of the site, but it does not work in the mobile version. Tell me, maybe for the mobile version it is necessary to apply other values of height and width?

When you refer to the mobile version do you mean your AMP URLs as opposed to just mobile? Providing you’ve inserted the minimum attributes required for a AMP-ad they should work on all AMP URLs, not specific to mobile.

If you want to share your ad unit code I can check whether it’s valid AMP. You can also test for any invalid or missing attributed using the AMP playground. You simply copy and paste in your ad code into the body content.

I mean, when viewing the AMP version of the page, there is advertising on the computer, but there is no advertising on the mobile phone.

In general, there are ads in AMP pages in the mobile browser Google Chrome, but there are no ads in the Google News app. Strange (((

Okay. The main part of the problem is still solved, and then let Yandex deal with its solution. Thank you for your help.

I see. In that case that does sound unusual. I would suggest following up with Yandex as you have done already, with the issue not specific to the AMP plugin. The Yandex team should have more insights on how to implement amp-ads on their platform.
