Hi, I’m getting an error, number 5 on the checkout page that says: “There are no payment methods available. This may be an error on our side. Please contact us if you need any help placing your order.”

Everything is set up through PayPal and we’ve tested it before and everything was working fine. I’m not sure where this error is coming from. Can you help?

I’m getting an error, number 5 on the checkout page that says: “There are no payment methods available. This may be an error on our side. Please contact us if you need any help placing your order.”

From what I understand, you’re having an error on your checkout page, error number 5, which states: “There are no payment methods available. This may be an error on our side. Please contact us if you need any help placing your order.”

From the look of it, it seems like there’s a problem with the payment methods set up. As you’ve mentioned, everything was working fine with PayPal before, so it might be a setting that needs an update.

Let’s start by making sure you’re using the most recent version of the PayPal plugin, which is 2.2.0. This version includes several updates and fixes that may help solve your issue.

Next, let’s check if the smart buttons are enabled on the Block pages. Here’s how to do it:

    1. Navigate to the PayPal plugin settings on your WordPress dashboard (WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > Paypal).
    2. Click on the ‘Standard Payments‘ tab.
    3. Look for the ‘Smart Button Locations‘ setting.
    4. In this setting, make sure both the ‘Block Cart‘ and ‘Block Express Checkout‘ options are selected.

This action will activate the smart buttons on your block pages, which is essential for the checkout process. You can refer to this section of our documentation for more information: ?? WooCommerce Blocks

If you’ve gone through these settings and everything appears to be in order, the next step is to test for conflicts. It’s possible that a theme or plugin conflict is causing the error. You can test this by temporarily deactivating all other plugins and switching to a default WordPress theme like Storefront. If the error disappears, reactivate everything one by one to identify the conflict’s source.

Here’s a helpful guide on how to test for conflicts: ?? How to Test for Plugin and Theme Conflicts

In case none of the above steps work, could you send us a copy of your site’s System Status? This will give us a clearer picture of your site’s setup and help us pinpoint the problem. You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support.

Additionally, could you also provide us with the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

Once you have that, please paste it inside a Code block in your reply, or use https://pastebin.com/ to paste it and share the link with us.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation in this matter. I’m looking forward to your response so we can solve this issue for you.

    Hi @paulysguitarjournal

It seems to have been a theme issue. I’ve changed themes and everything looks like it is working for the moment. Thank you for your help.

I’m thrilled to see that a theme change fixed the issue for you. Sometimes, themes can clash with plugins, leading to unexpected glitches. So, when you’re troubleshooting, it’s always wise to check for any theme conflicts.

To keep potential issues at bay, make sure you’re always running the latest versions of your themes and plugins. This not only helps you dodge problems but also lets you enjoy all the latest features and improvements.

I’ll go ahead and mark this thread as resolved. However, if you ever have more questions or issues in the future, don’t hesitate to kick off a new topic.

We’d be thrilled if you could spare a few minutes to leave us a review at ?? https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/woocommerce/reviews.
