“There are no payment methods available” in WooCommerce Paypal

    Hi, I’ve set up woocommerce paypal payments and linked my paypal account, but this does not seem to filter through to the checkout page which has a box saying “no payment options available”.

    Paypal features are enabled for the store under Standard Payments, and pay later is also enabled.

    Your system report shows that your WooCommerce version is 8.2.2, while your WooCommerce Database version is 8.0.3. This mismatch could be the root of the problem. Here’s what you can do to fix it:

    Hi Tamrat, it appears the problem was that WooCommerce Paypal does not work with blocks. I’ve been using the work around shortcode block and [woocommerce_checkout] as per the instructions here but I’m running into some problems:

    1. I have created new Cart and Checkout pages named “cart-xyz” and “checkout-xyz” as seen in the screenshot below.

    However when i go to the Page Setup under advanced options, I don’t have dropdown menus as per the instructions above, only input boxes. I change the new cart and checkout pages as below.

    2. This then changes the cart page as expected to cart-xyz which you can see at the below link:

    But the checkout page at /checkout-xyz/ is overwritten with the old checkout template, not the one I set up using a shortcode page.

    Hello @cmcpress,

    From what I checked, the PayPal extension supports WooCommerce checkout blocks by adding it as an express checkout option, in other words, it doesn’t add it as a dedicated PayPal payment method.

    Also, in order to have the Express Checkout button displayed on the checkout page, you’ll need to add the “Block Express checkout” option in the smart button location, which you can find in the plugin settings.

    If PayPal is your only available payment method, you can try adding the following CSS snippet to remove the “no available payment method” notice on the checkout page.

.woocommerce-checkout #payment-method{
  display: none !important;
}

    Thank you @saif. Unfortunately I still have issues.

    I added the CSS and changed the two new entries to the “Smart Button Locations” box as shown in your instructions, but this has not solved the issue.

    • (Wrong positioning) – express checkout appears at the top of the checkout page, but unable to complete payment until shipping is added which is at the bottom of the page. This is confusing for customers.

    • clicking “place order” reloads the page but with “no payment method provided” displayed. On mobile this is the first thing you see and “express checkout” is further down the page.
    • clicking on the paypal option goes through and completes on paypal, but on returning takes you back to checkout instead of “paymemt completed” page, with no paypal buttons visible and “no payment method provided” displayed. Orders are not registered in the orders page, nor money received in paypal. The transaction is not completed.
