There doesn’t seem to be a wp-config.php file

  • First time installing. I’ve created the DB and user and made the changes to wp-confing.php and uploaded it.

    When I go to https://www.4healthconcerns.com/weblog/wp-admin/install.php

    I get the message ‘There doesn’t seem to be a wp-config.php file. I need this before we can get started. Need more help? We got it. You can create a wp-config.php file through a web interface, but this doesn’t work for all server setups. The safest way is to manually create the file.’

    However when I click on the link it tells me ‘The file ‘wp-config.php’ already exists. ‘

    What is happening?

  • Did you define your database in lines 3 through 6 in the wp-config.php file?

    Yes. I’ve been over it a bunch of times, deleting it from the server and then re-uploading a new file that I made sure was redifined.

    What OS and webserver are you running?

    I’m having the same problem. I’m running:

    apache 2.57-rhel3.build75050824.12
    mysql 3.23.58-2.3
    php 4.3.2

    I got wordpress 1.5 to work via plesk, but now i can’t seem to even upgrade to the newest version.

    Any help woudl be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    I don’t know what did I do wrong.

    If you followed these instructions:

    3. Rename the wp-config-sample.php file to wp-config.php.
    4. Open wp-config.php in your favorite text editor and fill in your database details.

    and it cannot be found, verify it is in the root folder (same folder as directories wp-admin/, wp-content/ and wp-includes/) and that it is readable (should be 644 or -rw-r–r–).
