Dear wordpress support community,

About a week ago I used sarada lite theme to set up my website. Last week on Friday or Saturday I received a notification asking to update one of the plugins. After updating it, I got an error( can’t clearly remember error number). I tried to keep on working on the website, but suddenly everything crashed and now every time I try to enter the website, I get this message:

There has been a critical error on this website.

Any ideas how to fix it?
I’m very amateur in using wordpress, so if there is a chance to restore my website, please try to explain me as easy as possible.

Hi,

This is php code error.

Go to wp-config.php file (located in root directory) there is define
(define(‘WP_DEBUG’, false);) make it true like this (define(‘WP_DEBUG’, true);)

Then you will see the where is error in the code.

Could you elaborate for me a bit more, please? I didn’t quite get what I need to do…
I didn’t install WordPress on my PC. Do I still need to go to root directory?

Yes go to your root directory on root folder there is file wp-config.php and find
define(‘WP_DEBUG’, false) and make it true like define(‘WP_DEBUG’, true)

then refresh your site your error will be show.

Errors like this are logged. Check the error log on your server. If you can’t find the log, please contact your host.

Meantime, enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log and after an error, look at wp-content/debug.log to see if anything gets logged there. https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/

You can also try this: Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you cannot access wp-admin, there are other ways to deactivate plugins:? https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/faq-troubleshooting/#how-to-deactivate-all-plugins-when-not-able-to-access-the-administrative-menus

I disabled all plugins and the website returned back. Thank you very much for your kind advice! ??
