• I tried logging into my WordPress account after months of not being on and received the following error: “There has been a critical error on your website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions”. I searched WordPress support for answers, called my web host and they did not find any error log files. They had me clear the cookies in my web browser but I still have the problem. My website is still up and running but I wanted to make some modification but cannot log in due to the error code. What shall I do next?

Errors like this are logged. Check the error log on your server. If you can’t find the log, please contact your host.

Meantime, enable wp_debug and wp_debug_log and after an error, look at wp-content/debug.log to see if anything gets logged there. https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/

You can also try this: Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use one of the default (Twenty*) themes. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.

If you cannot access wp-admin, there are other ways to deactivate plugins.

Access your plugin directory via FTP, rename it to something like plugins.disable If any of the plugins was causing this issue, it would be fixed and you would be able to login. Rename it back to original once the issue is gone.

You can also try deactivating your current theme the same way and check whether it fixes the ongoing issue. I would highly recommend checking the error log file to zero in on the actual cause.
