    Hello,

    The full error code is:

    There has been an error with the API. Please make sure your API settings are correct and try again: ONLY_PREVIEW_ALLOWED

    The sidebar within the WP posts admin shows ok and the articles in the Apple News page in WordPress show as ‘unpublished’.

    Everything looks good, (I think – are there screenshots of the interface?)
    but it doesn’t connect with Apple News Publisher. There it shows ‘no articles’ regardless of what I publish in WordPress.

    Note: I’ve read your previous answer to a similar question and you said:

    “You can mark the articles as preview individually using the meta box on the post (please activate that option in settings) before bulk publishing. Clicking the normal “Update” button on the post will save the values.”

    I’ve tried this too, but the Preview box doesn’t remain checked and nothing happens.

    How can I fix this? Thank you for the plugin!

    There is no known bug with the Preview checkbox or the accompanying functionality and I’ve even taken the time to re-run both the associated unit tests and some manual tests to confirm.

    If you’re seeing the ONLY_PREVIEW_ALLOWED error message, it’s because your channel is not yet approved by Apple to publish live content. If that’s unexpected, please reach out directly to Apple News support for further assistance. The plugin has nothing to do with channel approval.

    Hi Bradford,

    You’re correct. I was approved for Apple News and now I need to send a few articles as drafts (to News Publisher) so they can see what I publish. Then I will get the final approval to publish ‘live’ content.

    But I can’t figure out how to send the articles for pre-approval? Anything I try within the plugin ends in the error code.

    So how do I send the articles so the drafts show up in News Publisher? It says “Drafts from CMS” but nothing shows there. (That’s where Apple asks ‘Submit for Approval’ upon which I’ll be able to ‘publish these articles and more’.)

    You need to check the box marked “Preview” before publishing.

    I do this and then click Publish, but nothing happens. The post is published on the site, that Preview box is unchecked again and nothing shows in Drafts in News Publisher.

    Please check your PHP error logs for any errors that are occurring during publishing. Unfortunately I can’t reproduce this error either manually or via our numerous automated tests built into the plugin.

    I have one more question. Should the plugin work if I schedule an article for future publication? Or do I need to physically click ‘publish’? Thanks

    It should, but some folks are reporting that it’s not working. We have an open issue for it to look into in the near future:
