• Hi, guys!

    After I updated to Kirki 4.0 our website crashed down and it only showed the message “There is a critical error on your website”. We’re using the Authentic theme. I deactivated the Kirki plugin and everything is back to normal, but losing all the customizations made to the page.

    Is there any way of fixing this?

    Thanks a lot for your help!

    R.

  • I have exactly the same error. Deactivating the plugin works, but then the site doesn’t work anymore – using Folie as a theme that is built on Kirki.

    not sure, if this is the same issue, but for me, the error is:

    PHP message: PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Class ‘WP_Customize_Section’ not found in /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/codeless-page-builder/include/core/kirki-setup/codeless_custom_section.php:3\nStack trace:\n#0 /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/codeless-page-builder/include/core/cl-kirki-setup.php(93): require_once()\n#1 /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/htdocs/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(303): Cl_Kirki_Setup->load_custom_section()\n#2 /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/htdocs/wp-includes/plugin.php(189): WP_Hook->apply_filters()\n#3 /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/kirki/packages/kirki-framework/compatibility/src/deprecated/filters.php(13): apply_filters()\n#4 /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/htdocs/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(303): Kirki\\Compatibility\\Deprecated->{closure}()\n#5 /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/htdocs/wp-includes/plugin.php(189): WP_Hook->apply_filters()\n#6 /opt/bitnami/apps/wordpress/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/kirki/packages/kirki-framework/modu…’`

    @pzentner, this has been reported before & the team at Codeless is aware of this issue. We have stopped rolling out version 4 for now so we all have a bit more time to address these issues. For now, please reinstall the latest version of Kirki (3.1.9) and everything should be back to normal.

    @raulfpm, do you have any info on what the error message is?

    Thank you, David.

    I have actually been able to resolve this issue just a few minutes ago. What did work in my case was deleting the Folie theme and the Kirki plugin through SSH and then re-installing the plugin and the theme fresh.

    Based on this behavior, I am thinking that this is actually caused by some files not being cleaned up properly during the update – at least it could be one option (or Codeless has fixed their issue in the latest version and I was not aware of it).

    Hi there, David!

    That’s the only message we get. If we activate Kirki, the desktop works but you get that message if you try to open the website. ??

    I was thinking of deleting Kirki 4.0 and reinstalling 3.9… But will we loose the customs or something?

    Best,

    R.

    @raulfpm, you will not lose any customizations when rolling back to 3.1.9 ??

    We have fixed all reported issues and are going to re-release version 4 soon!

    Hi again, David!

    So I will go back to previus version while version 4 es es re-released! ?? What do you recommend: deleting the plug-in and installing version 3 from scratch?

    Best,

    R.

    yes, that would work ??

    Hey @davidvongries I’m running kirki 4.0.3 version, which was the last version you shipped before erasing any 4.0 version from the plugin page. Everything works and has been working just fine since the first 4.0 incident.

    Do I revert to? What happens now? Technically i’m running a version that does not exist.

    @blclda,

    if everything works fine for you then there’s no need to worry ??

    We will re-release version 4 soon and the update will appear in your WordPress admin as usual.

    We just stopped rolling out the version 4 release for a moment as there were some bugs that couldn’t get fixed in a timely manner and caused severe problems on some sites.

    Got it, perfect!
