    Hello,

I have just installed the plugin in order to see if it can help us in optimization of the website. But while doing the performance test, I am seeing the following error message

"There was a problem fetching the desktop test results. Please try running a new scan."

I have tried several times in order to see if I can get some results, but nothing as of now.

Help in this matter would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Dipak

    Hi @dipaksaraf,

Sorry to know that you are experiencing this issue.

I tried to run a performance test of the mentioned website using Google PageSpeed Insights and could notice it failed. It looks like something at your website end is causing the issue.

Do you have a firewall enabled for this website? If yes, please disable the same and check if that resolves the issue.

Please let us know how that goes.

    Kind Regards,
    Nebu John

    Hey @wpmudevsupport14

Thanks for adding your views on the issue. As far as I am aware we don’t have any firewall enabled for the website.

The only plugin which I can think of is “JetPack”. Not sure if that’s interfering with hummingbird. I disabled brute force feature to see if that’s causing the issue, but it didn’t.

    What’s the next step?

    Hi @dipaksaraf

    Thanks for response!

I’m not aware of any conflicts in this area between Hummingbird and JetPack and the issue here seems to be slightly different.

As my colleague mentioned, he tried to run Google PageSpeed test on the site and that returned the same error. Hummingbird is using the same API – if PageSpeed won’t be able to fetch and test the site, Hummingbird won’t be able to or will return cached older result. We do select specific tests form that API and present them “in context” of the specific site but the “raw test” is actually performed using PageSpeed API.

This means that either “something” on site/server was blocking access for PageSpeed or, quite likely, it was an issue on PageSpeed end. This actually happens from time to time, surprisingly often, and usually it’s enough to just wait a bit and try again.

That being said, I just run another PageSpeed test on your site and it worked this time. Can you clear all caches on your site/server and try running Hummingbird Performance test again?

It should work fine now but if it doesn’t, we’d at least be able to rule out such API issue and we’d know that it’s either local on site or (more likely) on line between your server and our own API.

    Kind regards,
    Adam
