    Hi,

We had development site for our website and when we made it live, our contact 7 forms doesn’t work and we have this error:

There was an error trying to send your message. Please try again later.

I already reset and removed recaptcha and we still get the error. Can you please help us?

    Hey there,

I fixed the error also with the WP Mail SMTP Plugin. And it worked good.
That tutorial is the one i used for -> https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-use-smtp-server-to-send-wordpress-emails/

    Hope it could help.

I have a web agency and I was changing 80 websites to contact form 7 and suddenly got this same error after doing 20 successfully. The way I fixed this was simply putting a different email address in the “to” section and it worked, then I changed it back and it worked again, cheers!

Please check your registered email-ids for sending mails, if its not registered then please do it,
Go to cpanel ==> Email Section : Registered mail IDs ==> Enter Email ID to Register, if you add it will take max. 30 minutes…

    Thanks

    discard, posted in wrong message

thetraininglady:i will be soo glad if u help me through this.
how did you configure the mail?which plugin you use?
please help me through this. am struck for 2 days.
i brought the domain. but i dont host it yet. so i dont set the ‘from’ part because i am in localhost.
can you suggest solution for my prlm.?

thomath47: contact form 7 won’t send email if you are on a localhost. Need to be hosted on a live web server for contact forms to work which use email.

i am having the same problems.
i am working now on localhost? thats why i keep getting this error?
    if not some one help
    thanks.

thomath47 Yes you are having this issue as you are working on a localhost. You need to have your website hosted on a live web server before the error will be resolved.

thetraininglady: thanks brother. so its oki to get the same error. when in localhost?

    Yes

I had the exact same problem. Resolved by installing the Easy WP SMTP plugin and using SSL encryption (had to create a wordpress@domainname email account).

I had same issue. And as mentioned by Jazperson, I entered ‘wordpress@domain’ (as it is without changing the domain to my actual domain) in the ‘From’ section, saved, got a message ‘1 configuration error detected in this tab panel’, ignored it. Refreshed my website and it worked.

I figured out a workaround for my email issues. I am using GSuite to handle my email exchange on my website, and nothing seemed to work. Contacted both web host and Google and they say the mail server settings are correct. Then used 3 different popular SMTP plugins. Still gives me errors or hangs when I try to submit web form.

Then I tried another SMTP plugin “Postman Gmail API Extension” and that seemed to have made it work. The plugin hasn’t been updated in about 3 years so I am a bit skeptical about it in the long run.

Actually, there seems to be an updated version of this plugin called “Post SMTP Mailer/Email Log”. Use that and it should work.
