Can I get a link to your site so I can see? Any chance I can get a login too? If so you can email it to chris at slushman dot com.

Hmm. I’ve signed up for an account and put in a test URL and I see what you mean.

Where is the Profile Video Widget though? The URL field itself won’t do anything with the video URL other than save it in the database. The Profile Video Widget is where the video is actually displayed. When you put the widget on a sidebar, it grabs the URL from that field and displays the video.

oooh no shit eh… well that’s what I was missing.

    THANK YOU xD

    Okay.. one more question…

I got them working perfectly fine, but they’re added ontop of other sidebar widgets that make the profile look crowded.

So I created some new sidebars, and added the widgets.. but now I’m wondering.. how do you change the sidebars on the profile page?

I’ve been looking through the Buddypress files on FTP, and I can’t seem to find the line of code to change the sidebar ID’s

Any help is much appreciated ??

Hmm. These widgets should only appear on the profile pages and the profiles don’t have a separate sidebar. As far as I know, the only thing to do would be to reorder these widgets so they appear int he correct place on the profile pages.

Anything else would require tweaking the theme to make a new sidebar. But really, if you put them in the right order on the sidebar, it should just make the page taller, assuming the theme allows for that.

    Does that make sense?

Yeah, they do only show up on the profile page.

    But that’s not the issue..

What I’m looking to accomplish is have separate sidebars so ONLY the profile widgets are there.

Another way might be to get a plugin that hides the other widgets on the profile page? But seeing as the profile page is generated from some kind of template file.. I don’t see how this would be possible (I’ve used similar plugins in the past, and they only allow you to exclude widgets from actual “Pages”)

    hope this makes sense xD

oh, and I did manage to create new sidebars.. I just need to know how to switch them on the profile page

Oh, forgot to post last night…

    I solved my problem.

If anybody else is having similar issues.. I recommend a plugin called ‘Dynamic Widgets’ – you can truly get full control over where they show up.

I used the URL exception rule.. simply typed */profile/ in the box so it hides all the unnecessary widgets on only pages ending in /profile/
