• Hi,

I notice some people have been downloading the plugin I made called ThinkTwit. And there’s some votes there too. Just wondering if anyone found it useful or any other comments people have?

    Thanks ??

    Just a couple of suggestions:

    • use cache instead of calling Twitter API on every widget instance. Lessens page load time.
    • don’t delete settings on plugin deactivation. Owner will lose any custom settings on auto-update as plugins are deactivated before updating.
    • use ‘standard’ widget construction. Use new API for widgets.

Great tool for my needs – but the style isn’t plug and play. That is an issue for a non techie like me.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions guys, I’ll work on them when I have some time next week and hopefully provide an update on Friday!

Also thanks for giving your link gravlguts, that’s awesome to see it in action! ??

Ok, I’ve committed a new version that removes deletion of settings on deactivate, gives better info in the readme and also provides some basic CSS to be inserted in to the user’s stylesheet which should aid with formatting.

Will have a look at caching and correct use of widget API next, but that’s some big changes so I decided to do that lot on it’s own.

I’ve just uploaded a new minor release (1.1.0) which implements correctly the widget API, thus making it work more correctly as a widget. You can now insert multiple instances, if you so desire, and settings are now within the widget (where you drag and drop it) rather than in a separate page. I’ve also made a few other minor improvements.

My next job will be adding caching.

As always please let me know if you have any issues or suggestions.
