This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed.

  • When I am in WP I get the error “This block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed”

    The relevant plugin is Formidable Forms. I contacted them who in turn told me to reach out to you. I’m not gonna lie, I have seen this error before with other blocks but they would go away rather quickly. In this case that hasn’t happened.


    Gutenberg Version 15.2.2
    Formidable FormsPro Version Version 6.1.1
    WordPress 6.1.1

    Hi @eventide0 –

    Could you please clarify whether you’re getting this error on blocks generated by the Formidable Pro plugin? If not, could you please give me the name of the block you’re referring to?

    Could you also let me know if this happens with the free version of Formidable, or just the premium/pro version? (I don’t have access to the Pro version since it’s a paid one.)

    Keep in mind that the standalone Gutenberg plugin is experimental, so you can safely keep it deactivated:

    At the moment, yes I am getting them from the Formidable block. I have the Pro version but recall it happening with the free version as well.

    Hi @eventide0 – I looped in a couple of folks who work on the block editor, and one of its developers has responded in your other thread. Hopefully the Formidable devs can dig into the issue more deeply and get it resolved before WordPress 6.2 is released at the end of March.

    In the meantime, I recommend deactivating the Gutenberg plugin on your live site.
