• I just updated my site to wp 5.0…
I have no idea what were the developers thinking including this editor to the core. It looks like unfinished work. there are a lot of inconsistency, cluttered code, lots of divs inside another divs, negative margins used almost on every wrapper, lots of inline styles… Setting font size in pixels? Really? Have you ever heard of responsive/fluid websites? 48px font size may look good on desktop but on mobile? The classes ‘alignleft’ and ‘alignright’ in some cases are added to the child element in other situations to the outer element. How is it possible to style all those blocks? When I added alignleft to the image I couldn’t select that block again with paragraphs over and under the image. Column Block? forget it! It is imposible to select content inside them. I have spent half an hour trying to change the color of a button! Where is the ‘Uploaded to this post’ option when adding media to the post?

I know that there is WordCamp in the USA now, and that you had to put it in the core the day before just to have something to talk about during the conference. But on Monday You will remove it and everything will be back to normal, OK?

On your blog you’ve titled the post anouncing this change:
WordPress 5.0 “Bebo” – Say Hello to the New Editor

    Please consider the change into:
WordPress 5.0 “Bebo” – Say Goodbye to WordPress

  • I’m sorry that you had such an unhappy experience with the new block editor! It may be that the issues you are describing in your review have been fixed in the last 5 months, because I’ve been trying to reproduce them, at least as you describe them, but haven’t had any luck.

Where is the ‘Uploaded to this post’ option when adding media to the post?

If you click on the “+” to add a block, then select “Image,” you should see three options: Upload, Media Library, and Insert from URL. If you select “Upload” it will allow you to select a file to upload to your post.

I have spent half an hour trying to change the color of a button!

This document has some helpful tips about formatting buttons, in case you’re still having trouble with this: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/button-block/

Anyway, if you decide to give this editor another try, I think you might find it has improved a lot since December. If you prefer never to use it, there’s always the Classic Editor Plugin, at least until 2022? ??
