With this new version of CF7, I’ve got the new This contact form has 2 configuration errors message.

Looking at email tab, I see
This email address does not belong to the same domain as the site
with “from” field populated with [your-name] <[your-email]>.

It was pretty convenient to answer directly to people when receiving a message – but I suppose not good for spam reason.
Do we have to change it now ?

    I tried to add

    Sender: myself <[email protected]>
    Reply-To: [your-name] <[your-email]>

in additional headers as mentioned in the link and the error is still there but I suppose I wont’ have any problem using this ?

    OK.
After some tests, the best is to put a valid domain address in FROM field and add Reply-To: [your-name] <[your-email]> in Custom Headers.

    Hi Li-An

I found the same issue. But where do I find the “Custom Header” to add this?

    Thnx

Take a look at the screenshot at the end of the post I made about this – in french ?? – here: https://www.echodesplugins.li-an.fr/news/message-erreur-contact-form-7/

    got it, thx ??

if you set the from field to [your-name] <[your-email]> it gives the error ‘This email address does not belong to the same domain as the site.’ when you save the form.

If you set it as your own domain email it works but the email is from wordpress. This really sux bigtime and needs to be fixed urgently.

UPDATE: i added Reply-To: [your-email] to the additional headers but it still says the email is from WordPress and replies go to my email??

@gchaefer: the email is not “from WordPress” but it looks like “[email protected]”. Unless you change it.
It works perfectly with the settings described in this thread – and suggestions on official CF7 site – so read it carefully.

When I set the CF7 form and mail fields according to this thread using my own domain email in the from field and the Reply-To: [your-name] <[your-email]> in the additional headers field I receive the email correctly with no validation errors.

When I reply to the email in Outlook/Mailbird email apps I get this error

    missing_mailbox@syntax_error

This would indicate the PHP code in CF7 is not formatting the reply to field properly. PS: Am using CF7 4.4

Make a test with all other plugins desactivated and default theme. I have no problem on my sites and people who read my post about this have not report any problem.

It only gives you a configuration warning, you can still have it say send from [your-email] you just have to ignore the error on the contact form. If you guys could make some way to suppress this error, that would be great. When this on internal networks the whole spam thing isn’t an issue. thanks

Thanks Hawkdavis but error message was deleted in new CF7 version so I don’t understand the purpose of you reply.
