When defender is running, the URL mentioned returns a, “This Feature is disabled” message to non-logged in users.

The site is running on Kinsta and in the error logs it returns a 500.
Deactivated the plug-in and the page renders fine. Re-activating it the page is fine. It’s when Kinsta’s cache is flushed that this error occurs. It is post specific – I’ve not found this error on other pages.

It looks as though Defender is stopping the request. Any suggestions?

    Hi @apcimino2,

Could you please share the 500 error log what you get in the server-side so that we could have a better idea of what might be causing this?

Just to be clear, you are getting the error message when you try to access only the mentioned page URL? or with every page URLs on your website?

It’s an odd behaviour that loading a page URL is throwing such error when the cache is cleared. In general, such an error occurs when a non logged user tries to access a masked URL login.

However, accessing a page shouldn’t have thrown such an error. Could you please double-check whether you have Mask Login Area feature enabled?

You can find the option under Defender > Advanced Tools > Mask Login Area, if enabled, please deactivate the “Mask Area Login” feature in the plugin side and then check whether you still get the same issue or not.

If you still face similar issue then please do share the logs in your next so that we could further investigate this.

Looking forward to your response. Have a nice day ahead.

    Kind Regards,
    Nithin

    Hi,

The logs aren’t showing any detail now. This only happens for this one URL. The rest of the site is fine.

Mask login area is enabled. Deactivating it fixes the issue.
Any idea why this would happen? Can I not use mask login on this site?

    Cheers,
    Anthony

    Hello @apcimino2 ,

I’m afraid there is a bug in the Defender that blocks all the URLs with words like admin, administrator, login and so on when Mask Area Login is enabled.
But the good news is that it will be fixed in the next release of Defender and it won’t be blocking posts/pages with URLs containing those words.

    kind regards,
    Kasia
