First the removing category does not work. Then page has too much re-directing.

It has been working beautifully, then why the major change? Time to think of using other plugins.

    The downgrade,

    1. download 6.x branche
    https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/releases

    2. deactivate 7.x then deleted it

    3. install 6.x version, by uploading the downloaded 6.x version.

    4. make SEO setting changes.

    5. then look to migrate to other plugins or stop updating.

All in One SEO + No Category Base (WPML) = a far leaner, efficient and faster SEO with XML Sitemap that can be fine-tuned and controlled.

If the remove Category URL function is not working as expected, this could be caused by a plugin or theme conflict. Can you try and gather as much information for us as possible? Please perform the following:
    1. Make sure the issue doesn’t persist when Yoast SEO is disabled.
    2. Check for conflicts.
    3. Check for JavaScript errors with your console.
If you find any JavaScript errors related to Yoast SEO or if there is a conflict with a plugin or a theme, you can create a new GitHub issue for our developers. Please report the issue to a third party developer as well.
If you didn’t find any conflicts or errors, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium and receive our Premium email support and we can help you further.

    Thank you for the reply.

I have migrated all my sites to another plugin with exception of one site which uses custom post type and Yoast SEO does much better SEO job. For that site, I am using an old version and not intending to update.

Yoast SEO used to be very good, not sure about the constant tinkering and releasing. Hope Yoast SEO will not “update this to oblivion.”

For others having too many re-directing issue, do not use Yoast SEO’s remove category feature, use a third party plugin, such as “No Category Base (WPML)”, instead. The simple fact that you will have to go back to your settings to re-save permalink indicates that the new version definitely changes the algorithm in removing category and you are on your own using this feature. A third party plugin does much better job than a bloated SEO package.

    Hello,

We’re actively using the bug tracking on our GitHub repository so if you would like to help us improve the plugin, the next best course of action would be to create a new feature request for our developers here — https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/new

You can create a new issue to submit your feature request. You will need an account to create one. Please don’t forget to include the URL to this conversation in your feature request.
