This is the way to go to optimize your images

  • CompressX is different from the other image optimization plugins.

    It LOCALLY converts newly uploaded and existing JPG and PNG images to WebP and AVIF using GD or Imagick libraries on your host server. WebP and AVIF are served according to the browser support.
    While other plugins do the same with WebP, this is currently the only one that supports AVIF (again: locally, no paid CDN/cloud service is involved). Bread and butter is there, but it’s still young and needs improvements.
