I’ve downloaded the latest version of WordPress. Extracted the files on my laptop and FTP’d the contents of the wordpress folder into a directory on my server called blog. I then entered myslq details into the config file and uploaded this file.

Whan I visit the path https://www.example.co.uk/blog/wp-admin/install.php I get the error message this page cannot be found HTTP error 404/.

I’ve tried deleting the folder and contents and uploading all the information again twice. I’ve treble checked the details I’ve entered for the database. Any ideas?

Thanks for your quick help. I have been able to view the readme.html file from https://www.example.co.uk/blog/readme.html and have also ftp’d a copy of this file into https://www.example.co.uk/blog/wp-admin/readme.html and I can view it ok?

My server is with 1and1 and it’s Microsoft.

Just found out from my provider that I need a Linux package for PHP instead of Microsoft. I have just initiated the switch and will try again.

    I guess this isn’t for dummies ??
