Thanks for posting this question! The plugin has definitely not been abandoned. The functionality offered in the plugin is very simple and has not required any iteration. So it has continued to work without requiring any updates.
However, it does need to be updated to support the new block editor. For the time being, this plugin will only support the Classic Editor experience.
In the meantime, I have updated the plugin’s Tested Up To
field to correctly indicate it has been tested with the latest version of WordPress (which it has, and this should clear up the issue you are seeing). I also added a note to the Readme
file that explains the block editor is not yet supported by the plugin to avoid confusion for any users utilizing the new editor.
