    Hello,

I’ve tried to install this plugin but it doesn’t work for me. I’m guessing it’s because of the theme that is installed on my site. I didn’t do the theme, I am just trying to work with it to improve my site rather than starting from scratch.

I love the idea of custom comment forms tailored to each post so I hope someone can help me out.

My knowledge of coding is basic so forgive me if I’m missing something obvious here.
Thanks in advance for your help!

It seems it works for me if I go to bulk edit and check “Allow Comments” for all of my latest blog posts.

The custom comment form appears on the posts I imported from my old wordpress.com site. The posts I write in the new www.ads-software.com dashboard need this extra step.

    Hi Toronto,

What framework (if any) and theme are you using?

Do you get the “Custom Comment Form Title” settings page in the Dashboard under Settings? (I suspect you do)

Is “allow comments” not checked by default when you create new posts? Do you have comments turned off? Even if you did, the “Custom Comment Form Title” field on the Edit Post page should still display.

Sounds like a weird issue – we’ll see if we can get it sorted out here. I may need you to give me access to your Dashboard so I can see what is going on. Don’t do that here though – send me a Private Message through my forum at https://www.media-cairn.com

    Hello Derek,

Thanks for your reply. As best as I can tell I am using a modified version of the Twenty Thirteen theme.

When I create a new post the Custom Comment Form Title does appear at the bottom of the draft, however, in order to get the comment form to actually appear on the published post I have to go to bulk edit afterwards and select allow comments for each post.

My discussion settings in the dashboard seem to be ok, there is nothing restricting comments there.

I should tell you that all the posts that were imported from my old wordpress.com site appear with the comment form. For some reason the new posts I publish are operating under a different template. I do not know how to change this in the theme editor.

The person who created the user accounts (it’s not possible to contact him) made my old wordpress.com posts authored by torontoelectrolysis under SUBSCRIBER. My new posts are published under the ADMIN user of Toronto Electrolysis.

As far as I can tell this is the root of the problem. I just don’t know how to change it.

I hope this makes sense to anyone reading it. ??

It sounds to me like an issue with the Discussion settings. In the Dashboard, check under Settings > Discussion and ensure “Allow people to post comments on new articles” is checked.

Hmm, I think you might be right. I noticed it and didn’t check that simply because I didn’t want comments to be posted without my approval, especially the spam that comes in daily.

Thanks for drawing my attention to that!

Further down on that page you’ll see a couple of checkboxes next to “Before a comment appears”. Try checking “Comment must be manually approved”, then comments won’t be posted without your approval.

Also, if you aren’t using Akismet, you should be! It’ll help greatly with the spam.
