@checklist – Sorry you felt that way but it couldn’t be any further from the truth.

Easy Modal still has every feature it always did. We don’t actively develop it any longer beyond bug fixes.

Its successor Popup Maker in just over 18 months has nearly tripled the user base of this plugin (free users) and nearly 400 5 star reviews. Popup Maker offers 10x what Easy Modal could without any premium extensions, it is a full fledged popup solution without any $.

We even have a built in migration tool to help upgrade (for free) from Easy Modal to Popup Maker.

Same for Easy Modal, still gets tons of downloads as its still one of the most viable solution for adding a modal form to a menu etc.

i resolved it. since we are free to modify the code, i removed every dependency to license.php and it’s functions. i am still convinced though that it is shady practice for plugins on www.ads-software.com send data collection info to the creators. even if it just my domain name.
    but plugin is now ok.

@eolet – Glad you got it to your liking. As we said before this plugin isn’t getting any updates. That said I did some digging and the only thing that would ever run is a request to https://easy-modal.com/?edd_action=addon_list. I see that it is passing an access key (license) and url, though neither of these would make any difference as that page response has been cached since ~2 years ago on the server end (store/licensing/etc is all deactivated).

In any case that get response doesn’t save anything, and can be modified simply to remove the url or simply remove the guts of that function entirely and replace them with return array() which would be much less difficult than trying to remove all traces without breaking anything.

Also simply gutting the __construct() function will null any chance of other license requests if you have addons.

If you want to submit a patch since we don’t run the store any longer might as well remove this entirely.
