It has been closed for download temporarily because they found a security issue. I think it is a bit harsh move because you had to have access to the WebP Express settings in order to do misdeeds. I have corrected the issue and responded to WordPress that it has been fixed. Hoping for a quick reactivation!

    wonderful!!

I take this opportunity to ask you something, can you help me with the Lazy Load? How can I manage it through your plugin?
Can I change the code or intervene in any way?

    Ok, then ??

WebP Express does not provide Lazy Loading, but in many cases works fine with plugins/themes that uses lazy loading.

The “Varied image responses” mode works with all lazy loading.
If you are using “CDN friendly” mode, lazy load support is best if you choose “Replace image URLs”, but in some cases also works with “Replace tags with <picture> tags, adding the webp to srcset.”

Nice that is not a serious issue, @roselldk. I thought you abandoned the plugin. Can I download the github version in master?

Yes, but the vendor folder isn’t on github. You will have to run composer update in the plugin root.

But I’m still hoping to get reactivated soon

Following, can you please update here when it is back online?

I have just installed a new project development site and found out this plugin is not available. Scared me like hell because I use this plugin on quite a few production sites. I hope this issue will be solved soon. Please keep us updated. Thank you for the great plugin.

Please UPDATE as soon as possible. This plugin is really really great and I have been using it on more than 90% of my own and clients’ websites.

In fact, this is the plugin (along with some other techniques) that helped me to improve a website loading time from 43 seconds to 4.3 seconds. I’m Freelancer and providing WordPress & Speed Up services – despite the fact that I have a lot of experience but still I love this plugin. It just works out like Magic.

I would love to see it again ASAP. Thanks for it. Please Keep Updated.

Also following, hoping for quick restoration.
Should we deactivate the plugin until back? is the issue resolved?

    (@roselldk)

Yes, I believe the issue is resolved, committed, and I have emailed WordPress. But it is weekend, so I will probably not get a response until after the weekend

Alright, good luck. I hope this awesome plugin gets back.

I have resolved the original issue, but the fact that there was an issue has triggered a complete review of the plugin. This is good news with regards to security, but bad news with regards to getting the plugin back soon. It takes time to review a complex plugin like WebP Express. Also, it takes time for me to implement the demands I have been getting from the team. It is not that they found anything serious, it is more like principles that the code must adhere to. I’m deliberately being vague here because I do not want to tell the world about the nature of these issues.

As to if you should deactivate, it is up to you. But there is not much harm in deactivating for what is hopefully just a few days more. No settings are lost

Ok, good news, thanks for following up, in fact, personally I am still keeping the plugin in my own sites, I believe it’s a great one.
Good luck, looking forward to an update soon.
    Thank you.

Am I wrong to think that you could do a composer update and upload the complete plugin package to github?
I have seen there was a new release a few hours ago. It would make our life easier if we do not have to run composer update every time there is an update.
Not to mention those folks using shared hosting without access to shell functions.
