This theme leaves residue and breaks the site

  • I got this theme installed via softaculous and I realised it didn’t look very good so I switched to another theme in my WP dashboard only to find that PopularFX leaves residue. I also disabled the plugin that was installed with the theme without asking me for my permission. This has now broken my entire website and I have to go back to softaculous to reinstall it. Lucky I’ve got my earlier backup. I’ve got two issues with this. First, it installs a plugin on MY site without asking for MY permission. Secondly, when you make a decision to get rid of this theme, you can’t do it because it leaves code behind. I’m surprised WordPress allows something like this!

    This theme does not install any plugin by itself. Softaculous Installer has the following notification in the themes selection section :
    Note: This is optional. If not selected, the default theme will be installed. Themes are provided by PopularFX and built on Pagelayer Editor.

    As far as residue is concerned, the whole theme is built using content and there is a different post type assigned to it. However, sample content with Pages and Posts have content based Pagelayer and that will remain. Pagelayer creates revisions OR creates new posts and pages with different names e.g. home_2.
