    Hi!

    Just tried the blog widget, it’s very, very nice!

    But I do have two small problems:

    1. the read more tag is in english, and I couldn’t find any place to change it to brazilian portuguese. Is it possible in any way?

    2. Background colors. I can’t make the background transparent (what I really want) but even changing colors doesn’t work very well: I tried many options, but, for example, I tried to give it some yellowish color and I got a pallid blue. Beautiful, really, but not what I was trying to achieve.

    The site is offline, because it’s not ready, but if you need to inspect it let me know and I will try to put it online temporarily, or any other solution.

    Thank you and best regards!

    Hi Arutha

    Thanks for giving the Blog Widget a try.

    1. I’m unsure why the Continue reading string isn’t being automatically translated. I can translate the string with Loco Translate:

    Continue Reading

    A field to adjust the Continue reading text is available as part of SiteOrigin Premium.

    2. The background color setting is working normally in my installation. If you let me know the hex value of the color you’re using; I can test it again.

    If you’re using the Standard template, you can set the background of each article to transparent using the following in your Custom CSS:

    .sow-blog-layout-standard article .sow-blog-content-wrapper {
    	background: transparent !important;
    }

    If you’re using another template, please, let me know.

    Thanks

    Andrew

    Hi Andrew!

    Sorry for the delay.

    I’m using the alternate template in this page. I tried simply writing alternate were it is written standard, but it didn’t work, lol.
    I will have two more blog pages (other categories) and I didn’t decide about their layout yet.

    I’m studying the keep reading problem. It’ strange because on the theme blog the read more is in brazilian portuguese. I remembered today that I had problems with the read more tag in another website with the same theme: a post made with siteorigin pagebuilder would have the read more tag duplicated, in different styles. I had to use a custom css so one of them would not be seen…

    Tanks! Best regards!

    Hi Arutha

    Thanks for the update.

    For the Alternate Template, please, try the following and let us know how it goes.

    .sow-blog-layout-alternate article {
    	background: transparent !important;
    }

    Thanks again.

    Hi!

    It worked very well! thank you!

    by the way, I’m impressed about how quickly you solved the honeypot question and added other functionalities! You are the best!

    For the keep reading translation, no luck till now. I will try a work around for now and later I will contact the theme support…

    Thank you very much Andrew!

    Hi Arutha

    Thanks for your kind feedback and support; it’s most appreciated.

    Were you perhaps able to give Loco Translate a try?

    Hi

    I’m a little wary of installing one more plugin! But I will try it on the weekend for sure.
    What upsets me is that the read more is correctly translated in the “normal” blog of the theme.
    Over the weekend I will test the blog on my other site, to verify if it is an isolated problem. If I discover something relevant I will let you know!

    best regards!

    Hi Andrew!

    From my almost newbie point of view, things are getting weirder. I just published the page with the blog widget (behind a in construction wall) and discovered that pagination doesn’t work. When I try to go to the second page I get this:

    {“code”:”rest_no_route”,”message”:”Nenhuma rota foi encontrada que corresponde com o URL e o m\u00e9todo de requisi\u00e7\u00e3o.”,”data”:{“status”:404}}
    that in english I suspect translates as this:
    “code”:”rest_no_route”,”message”:”No route was found matching the URL and request method”,”data”:{“status”:404}

    In the published page the link to the second page reads as this:
    https://vitoletizia.cemap-interludium.org.br/wp-json/sowb/v1/widgets/previews/?sow-11686=2

    I did a small test on another site and got the same results: keep reading in english and no pagination.

    What do I do now, aside from crying?

    A good weekend for you!

    Hi Arutha

    You can try checking to see if there is a change after saving Settings > Permalinks. If that doesn’t help, please, try temporarily deactivating all plugins except for those authored by SiteOrigin, any change?

    Hi Andrew!

    I had a very busy days! Tried deactivating plugins and changing themes without any difference whatsoever. Then I created a new local WordPress install in my PC. First with only twenty twenty and widgets bundle and no luck, the same problem. Tried with my theme and Astra, the same. It took a lot of time, as I have a full day job and can only work in this after (and before) hours.

    Then today I had a eureka moment: installed Site Origin Page Builder! Created a non-Gutenberg page with it. Added blog widget. And it worked!! Then I went back to the real site, activated the Page Builder in the sub-site, repeated the process and yes!! it worked too. We have pagination!, can go to page 2, 3, 11, everyone of them!

    It’s true that the old problem of page builder creating two, sometimes three revisions each time I save is back. But looks like it doesn’t have any bad impact on the page, so, I can live with cleaning revisions more often.

    But why is it? Why is it working only in pages created by the page builder? I’m not complaining, mind, just curious.

    About the “keep reading”, I tried loko translate, but didn’t understand it very well and couldn’t find the right place (string?). So, as I was in a staging environment, I went all the way to the config files, found the “continue reading” and changed it there. It worked, too. But I didn’t repeat on the real site, got a little scared of doing some damage to the plugin. Is it ok to do this?

    best regards!

    Hi Arutha

    Thanks for the updates.

    With Page Builder deactivated, I’ve tested a SiteOrigin Widget Block using the Blog Widget and, unfortunately, can’t recreate the pagination problem. Do you have a live site we could inspect the issue on?

    I’ll send a short screenshot tutorial for translating a string with Loco Translate tonight.

    Cheers

    Hi Arutha

    Here are the steps to translate the Continue reading string with Loco Translate:

    Loco Translate > Plugins > SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle.

    New Language > I chose Portuguese Brazil > Custom location is fine (
    languages/loco/plugins/so-widgets-bundle-pt_BR.po)

    Start translating

    Use the Filter translations search field to search for Continue reading > select the text.
    Scroll down to Portuguese (Brazil) translation: enter your translation:

    Continuar lendo

    Save

    Hi Andrew!

    I just created two pages on the live site for you, as the sub-site is under construction. I hope this is enough, but if not, let me know what more I can do. The pages are:
    https://cemap-interludium.org.br/testa-blog-gutemberg/
    and
    https://cemap-interludium.org.br/testa-blog-site-origin/

    I will scrap both afterwards

    Thanks for the loco translate tutorial, I believe I will be able to do it now!

    Thank you!

    Hi Arutha

    Please, find a link to a beta release of the Widgets Bundle:

    https://siteorigin.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/so-widgets-bundle.1.42.2.zip

    Once the ZIP file is on your desktop, it can be installed from Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin. Perhaps give it a try and let us know if the Widgets Block > Blog pagination issue is resolved.

    Thanks!

    Andrew
