    Hi!

Just tried the blog widget, it’s very, very nice!

But I do have two small problems:

    1. the read more tag is in english, and I couldn’t find any place to change it to brazilian portuguese. Is it possible in any way?

    2. Background colors. I can’t make the background transparent (what I really want) but even changing colors doesn’t work very well: I tried many options, but, for example, I tried to give it some yellowish color and I got a pallid blue. Beautiful, really, but not what I was trying to achieve.

The site is offline, because it’s not ready, but if you need to inspect it let me know and I will try to put it online temporarily, or any other solution.

    Thank you and best regards!

    Hi Andrew!

    Wow this was quick!
I did a fast test on my staging page and no, it didn’t work. But with a difference: now, instead of getting “code”:”rest_no_route”, all the pages (2,3, 4 and so on) that I click open the second post of the blog… I logged out, logged in again, deactivate and activated the plugin, but results were the same.
I didn’t do a lot of testing because Sunday will be election day here in Brazil and I’m quite busy preparing for it, a lot of choosing candidates, convincing friends, helping grandfather to choose, and on and on…
Anyway, it’ progress of some sort and I decided to let you know my first try at the beta.

Best regards and please, wish our country luck on Sunday!

    Hi Arutha,

Thank you for trying the provided beta. During testing, did you make any direct changes to the SiteOrigin Widgets Block that was used to add the Blog widget? If not, try making any changes to the widget to see if that helps. Alternatively, try adding a new SiteOrigin Widgets Block and setting that up to display the Blog widget. The SiteOrigin Widgets Form contains some caching so it’s possible you’re still seeing the older version of the Block.

    Kind regards,
    Alex

    Hi Andrew, hi Alex!

Just did it, Alex, the caching idea sounded quite reasonable. Changed things in the block, added another block, even created another page and repeated. The deactivated the plugin, deleted the blocks, activated the plugin, rinse and repeat… It’s the same, looks like pagination points to the last entry in the blog roll (and not the second, as I posted before, sorry) and not to next page.
Did it in the staging site and the live site. I noted that in my staging site I can’t choose category, as the list of categories doesn’t show at all. It’s not important, as it works correctly in the live site, but I’m trying to report everything (lol)!

On another topic and just checking: Loco translate suggests that I sync the template and when I do it goes from 100% translated to around 60% translated. Is this correct, expected behavior?

Thank you for all the effort you are putting in this!

    best regards!

    Hi!

Ok, forget about Loco translate, I finally understood what happened: the Brazilian translation is somewhat old and a string for “continue reading” didn’t exist in it. I synced and then I could find and translate it. It is working quite well!
I hope to get some free time at the end of the year and, if it’s ok for you, I believe I can help with updating the translation to Brazilian Portuguese. After all, translating from English and Spanish is my day job!

    Hi Arutha

Thanks for trying all those steps. Is there any change on your staging site if you save Permalinks at Settings > Permalinks?

Thanks for your progress report on the translation. The translation project for the Widgets Bundle is located at https://translate.www.ads-software.com/locale/pt-br/default/wp-plugins/so-widgets-bundle/.

    Hi Arutha,

Thanks for trying and for the additional information. Hm. I’ve run a few tests and I feel the best way forward is to simply exclude the Blog widget from the Widgets Cache. This combined with the previous change should prevent this issue from occurring without any adjustments required. You can download a patched version of the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle to try by clicking here.

    Before proceeding, do a backup.

Navigate to Plugins > Installed Plugins and deactivate the SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle, and then delete it. Scroll to the top of the page and click Add New, Upload Plugin and upload so-widgets-bundle.1.42-2-beta-2.zip.

    Kind regards,
    Alex

    Hi Alex, hi Andrew!

It works! It works! Oh glory!!!

I’m so happy! You are a genius! Brilliant!

Alex, this patch will become an update? If so, when it arrives do I have to do something else, like uninstalling the beta, or just update the plugin? Can you explain what you did? I’m quite curious. If it’s possible to explain in terms that a lay person can understand, that is…

By the way, I always forget to ask: I use the plugin on both sites, the main and the sub. In this case, what is better, to activate it on the network or to activate it in each site separately?

thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

    Hi Arutha,

    That’s great to hear! ??

Yes, the provided changes will be in an upcoming SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle update. When the update is released it’ll update like normal so no additional steps are required on your end.

Can you explain what you did?
I noticed that the URL you’re getting is the Widgets Block preview URL so I set the widget to override those. In the second patch, I set the Blog widget to be excluded from the SiteOrigin Widgets Block cache.

In this case, what is better, to activate it on the network or to activate it in each site separately?
There’s no better in this situation so what you use really comes down to personal preference.
