  • Hi Tomer,

Did you have any HTTP to HTTPS or HTTPS to HTTP redirects setup?

Did this start just sudden or after update or install of plugin, move?

    It’ll help diagnose a little.

    Thank you,

This seems to be a nasty bug in the latest version (4.4.1) of WP. Many WP sites have been affected. Has to do with mod_security.

You have to contact your hosting company and get them to fix it on their end.

This is from 2 hours ago on WordPress support:
“cPanel users may find wp-admin blocked due to an update to their server’s mod_security rules. Preliminary reports suggest rules #214620 and #214940 are to blame. Please contact your hosting provider if you encounter this.”

I did that two hours ago, and got a technician to create a workaround until WordPress fixes the problem. What a waste of time.

    Thanks,

No I didn’t really do anything with he site, no redirects, it just went missing on me (and only the wp-admin)

any idea what to do with the mod_security?

    keep the ideas coming,
    thx,t.

did the 4.4.1 update yesterday and no other changes
did not notice the site giving this error until today
    searched around and tried
–renaming plugin folder to disable all (for testing)
–double checking site & URL in wp-config.php
–double checking site & URL in wp_options table on mysql
–reverted to default .htaccess file in root
    none worked
found a post that mentioned changing the permalink option back to ‘Plain’
    this stops the error
but there are tons of back links pointing to my ‘Post Name’ permalinks.. need this turned back on…
taking time out of working to call host to address this issue

Hi I’m having a issue with the “This webpage has a redirect loop” issue .

Link to a site? I want to see what/where the redirect is being presented.

So only the wp-admin has the problem?

I would talk to your host, it sounds like what we’ve observed with some mod_security rules as previously mentioned (you can link them to https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/read-this-first-wordpress-44-master-list?replies=7&view=all#post-7857957 if you’d like), as they are probably better equipped to fix it

    @nitewurx
Is it the front page failing to load for you, ideally you should’ve made your own topic, as it’s a completely different problem from the original posters one here, but please stop by Settings > General and ensure Site URL and Home URL are all lowercase (no uppercase letters at all), if not I’d recommend creating a new thread, and sharing your URL with us so we can more accurately assess the situation.
