  • Hi dancort, the News genre is not an allowed genre, see https://support.google.com/news/publisher/answer/93992 … The plugin will create only the allowed genres on activation so a genre called News should not be available when creating a post. Did you enter “News” as the default genre on Settings > Reading maybe? Change that to any of the allowed ones or simply remove it.

Or is there a News genre available when you create a post? The plugin normally does not allow editing of the Google News Genres. Only Super Admin on a Multisite installation can edit them. Are you on a Multisite? If so, please either recreate the genres manually or uninstall and reinstall the plugin.

    Hey RavanH,

So I haven’t selected. Please have a look:

Anything I can do to remove this News genre?

Hi, thanks for the screenshot. It shows clearly there IS no genre called News at all so there is nothing wrong there. Which means I cannot explain why the news sitemap would choose to show “News” as genre tag for some posts.

Can you send a screenshot from the edit page of https://noticias.gospelmais.com.br/malafaia-mostra-extrato-conta-revela-dinheiro-suspeito-87432.html for example? What is shown there in the Google News Genre field?

Also strange that your sitemap shows on /?feed=sitemap-news but not on /sitemap-news.xml while you are using pretty permalinks. Have you tried refreshing/resaving the Permalink settings?

Other remark: when adding Google News Keywords, try to use more general type of keywords as for example used in this list https://support.google.com/news/publisher/answer/116037 … Like “Politics” and not “Pastor Silas Malafaia”. Google News keywords are NOT the same as SEO/meta keywords. They do not have to be used in the text itself, they are to tell Google News about what category of news it is.
