Though opt-in disabled, user sync sent to *everyone*!
-
We have several dozen clients using Mailchimp for WP and we’ve never had a problem until now … and this one is a doozy.
Our new client, whose site we built, was encouraged to sign up for Mailchimp. We added your plugin and User Sync in order to synchronize their initial 103 customers of theirs to their new list at Mailchimp (they’ve not yet emailed anyone out of Mailchimp).
The problem? Even though all sync’ed users were set as being subscribed at Mailchimp, in your plugin, and in Ultimate Member (also used on the site), ALL CUSTOMERS BEING SYNCHRONIZED RECEIVED A SUBSCRIPTION VERIFICATION EMAIL!
To say that my client was pissed off is an understatement.
Here are three screenshots of settings at Mailchimp, in Mailchimp User Sync, and within the Ultimate Member integration. As you can see in your plugin both the “Implicit?” and “Double opt-in?” settings are set correctly: View screenshots
I have NO idea how this happened. Do you? Mailchimp points the finger at your plugin, while also saying, “Um…we don’t know but it’s likely on your side.”
