Thumbnail Image is not showing up

The plugin can’t find the Featured Image associated with your popular posts, hence the reason why you’re seeing the “No thumbnail” image.

I have the same issue. I migrated to a new web host and since then the images stopped displaying.

When you click the post, there is a featured image attached. Do I have to regenerate something?

This page has all the blog posts with Featured Image linked. It was working before, but currently, it is showing the default image.

That’s odd, @iamharidasan. The plugin definitely cannot find your featured images for some reason. What changes have you made to your site recently?

Also, please go to Settings > WordPress Popular Posts, click on Debug and share a screenshot of your Debug screen so I can have a look.

@akdwivedi I checked your site and thumbnails are being displayed normally for me. Chances are your problem is this so try this suggestion.

@hcabrera I disabled the lazy load but still no luck. The images you see are the default image replacement (which I removed for now to debug).

If you did set a Feature Image for each of your posts and WPP is not displaying them after the migration to the new server then I’d check file/folder permissions to make sure WPP can create thumbnails. The plugin creates a folder in wp-content called wordpress-popular-posts. Make sure the folder exists and that it’s writable by PHP @akdwivedi.

@hcabrera Is there a way to re-generate thumbnails? I see there are a few files but not many.

@akdwivedi the plugin will automatically attempt to (re)generate a thumbnail if:

1. The post has an image WPP can use a thumbnail (Featured Image, first image on post, etc.)
2. The wp-content/wordpress-popular-posts is writable.
3. There’s no thumbnail already for this post.
4. The server provides the necessary modules for PHP to actually be able to generate the thumbnail.

In @iamharidasan’s case for example I don’t see GD nor Imagick present among the available PHP modules so I’d check that at least one of these is installed/enabled.

@hcabrera I checked with the hosting provider and they could not find anything.

I changed the settings to use the thumbnails from the theme (in widget settings) rather than from the plugin. It is working now.
