Thumbnail images in feature blocks

Hello….
Having a terrible time with thumbnail photos in the feature blocks on the homepage.

I have set the featured images in my posts. I have assigned categories to the feature blocks.

The images display out of line in their respective feature block on the homepage, no matter what I do to the images themselves including removing them completely.

How can I get them to line up correctly and not display random blank spaces?
