Thumbnail not displayed on YouTube embeds

Was the video already embedded when you enabled thumbnails? Then this is the ”problem“ here. Embed Privacy doesn’t support adding thumbnails on embeds already embedded before. Or at least not if there is already an oEmbed cache available for the embedded content. You would need to flush that cache in order to generate a thumbnail.

Yes, the video was already embedded. I tried clearing oembed cache with wp embed cache clear <post_id>, but that didn’t “regenerate” the thumbnail. Reinserting the YouTube block did the trick though ??

I am not using the block editor and all my efforts have failed to load the image.

There is no such cache in Embed Privacy. Instead, you would need to clear the oEmbed cache. There are various ways to do that, e.g. via WP-CLI or via database.

Well, you may not call that “cache”, but the images are downloaded and stored at wp-content/uploads/embed-privacy/thumbnails.

It would be nice to have a feature to go through all existing posts and download the images which are missing. Because when I open I post in the editor, the images for embedded videos will be downloaded, even without saving the post at all.
