thumbnail not working

Hi
I activated the theme and all is fine, but my thumbnails of featured images were all of the wrong size, some big some small. I used the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin to regenerate them, but they still appear to be of the incorrect big and small sizes.
I am not using any CDN. I have turned cache off and cleared all cache. I checked via two different browsers. Same problem.
I tried repeating the process; same issue.
I have used https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/ to do it.
