Hi! This is probably a stupid question because I’m just getting started with WordPress but I’ve just imported a bunch of posts from a Blogger site and can’t quite figure out how this theme chooses which image to show as the episode thumbnail? And are there settings that will allow me to change the thumbnail dimensions (or really ratios, I’d like them to be book covers and not square if that’s possible.) Thanks!

    Hello,

This theme, just like most other WordPress themes, displays the featured image as the thumbnail.

This Podcast theme doesn’t have a built-in option to change the custom size of the post thumbnails that are used on archive pages.
Technically it is possible, but you would need to edit theme files, which is generally a bad idea.

    Best regards,

Thanks for the quick answer – the odd thing is that until today, my thumbnails were all rectangular (so the whole book cover was visible) and suddenly they’re all cropped into squares so it isn’t.

Unfortunately there’s not much that I can say without at least seeing the website live.

I completely understand if to use this appropriately I have to start making my images square, just want to make absolutely sure that’s the case. Thanks!

    Hi,

I don’t see posts with landscape thumbnails, only square (the expected result).
The theme works and behaves as it was intended to, so I don’t have anything to fix.

The decision to have square thumbnails was made because on most platforms, podcast covers and thumbnails are also square. So it only makes sense to do the same.
Having them portrait-sized (like book covers) is the least popular and rarely used ratio.

Maybe in future theme updates I will think about implementing some way of changing the thumbnail size, but that’s not very high on the “to do list”.

    Best regards,
    Dumitru B.
