• The plug-in was working fine for a few days then I added a default thumbnail in settings for posts that didn’t have a thumbnail and the plug-in caused a fatal error and wouldn’t let me login to my WP dashboard. Server support said the error was [Thu Feb 02 00:52:41.143]. Support removed the plug-in from the server. When I tried to add it again to fix the thumbnail issue, it caused the error again so we had to remove the plug-in entirely. I’d like to use the plug-in but right now I can’t because it causes fatal error.

    Hi @afchishty,

What fatal error exactly? What does the error message say?

    Also:

    • PHP version?
    • Plugin version?

    Hi Hector,

I’ve attached the image below of the error. It is the plugin version.

    Hey @afchishty,

For some reason the forum didn’t render your image but for anyone reading this it can be found here.

Now, the error message is being triggered by a core WordPress function which is quite odd:

    Call to undefined function wp_get_current_user()

That’s definitely not normal. If I had to guess, maybe your WordPress setup is partially corrupted somehow? Try reinstalling WordPress (go to /wp-admin/update-core.php and click on the “Re-install version x.x.x” button) and see if that fixes the problem, then please report back your results.

    Hi Hector,

Thank you for this, sorry I forgot to respond. I’ll try to reinstall wordpress. Will re-installing WP delete anything on the site like content or plug-ins? I just don’t want to lose anything that is necessary.

No, reinstalling WordPress as I suggested above (Dashboard > Updates > Re-install version x.x.x) should be safe and won’t delete your content nor your plugins. For peace of mind though it might be a good idea to create a full backup of your website first (reach out to the people who maintain your website or to your hosting provider for assistance with this) before proceeding.

    Hi Hector,

I did the reinstall and tried to put the plug-in back in and ran into the same error. Any suggestions?

    Thanks for the update, @afchishty.

Let’s rule out the possibility of conflict with another plugin(s) before we try anything else, please follow these troubleshooting instructions and report back your results.

    I experienced the same problem.
As @hcabrera said probably some conflict with other plugin, I have not time yet to debug in this way, in any case I think is necessary made a change to avoid this eventual conflict.
@afchishty my quick fix was find in the {YOURPREFIX}_option table the option name: wpp_settings_config and remove the path of the thumb.
This meaning that is not possible change the default thumb image but reolve the fatal error.

    Regards
