Before doing these updates make sure you have a good backup of your full site and database in place, so that if something goes wrong, you can easily restore your site to a functioning state. Most hosting providers have this included in the subscription, but you may also consider using a service like Jetpack, or a plugin like UpdraftPlus.

The site being in maintenance mode we aren’t able to check the thumbnails.

4. Can you please go to WooCommerce > Status > Tools and regenerate the thumbnails? I noticed that your thumbnail related plugins are disabled, so those shouldn’t be interfering.

I initially had the latest WC (and same problem was still there), I just perform a rollback today because some display behavior is not matching my previous WC.

Is it possible to reinstall my WC and reset database version to a lower version (i have my product export file from low version as well)? I was using WP Rollback, but i didnt know it was not rollbacking the database version.

I see that you have a caching plugin installed. Have you cleared your plugin cache – and your browser’s cache – after performing those steps?

If the issue persists after cache clearing, this is probably related to your theme.

The best way to determine this is to:

* Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront (https://www.woocommerce.com/storefront/)
* Regenerate your thumbnails by going to WooCommerce → Status → Tools
* Clear your site caches and your browser caches.

Check the products images again.

If performing such a test on your live site is not an option, you can create a staging site using the WP Staging plugin:

My team has decided to redo the whole site.

In fact, we did a fresh install (only oceanwp theme & woocommerce), then posted 2 products. It correctly uses thumbnail in pc view but not in mobile view, even when we split into 2 columns of products (so it should be small).

Can you try switching your theme from OceanWP to Storefront just for testing purposes?

You may need to purge all your cache (site and on the server-side) again.

Hi, we are considering if we wanted to temporarily switch a theme as we are worried of unclean deactivation/uninstallation later.

Meanwhile, we just notice that the thumbnail is being used on one phone but not the other. While it is used, the size it used is 600×600 which looks too large for me, as I thought the thumbnail size should be 300.

I wouldn’t worry about that. Installing Storefront shouldn’t add any new entries to your database, and uninstalling it will certainly remove the theme’s files completely.

It is worth mentioning that it is advised for all WordPress installations to keep an extra theme (“fallback”) available. If you go to your Site Health section ([yoursite]/wp-admin/site-health.php) you’ll see that recommendation.
