• No matter what I try, thumbnails and breadcrumbs don’t appear.
I have tried several themes which support both.
I have searched the forums here without finding something that speaks to this problem.

Images upload ok, thumbs are generated as expected, just do not appear.

I can get the breadcrumb border and background to appear, but the text/links don’t appear.

This is a new install of wp in a new db
    I reinstalled wp-admin and wp-includes.
    I removed all plugins.
I tried a regeneration of the thumbs.

Any feedback, on where to look for a solution, welcome. Thanks

Check your uploads path in Settings -> Media.

The breadcrumb will be theme specific and may be a CSS issue.

    HI Emsi,

    Thanks for the reply.

On the breadcrumb issue, the theme writer/s apparently forgot to mention that their theme relies on the breadcrumb-navxt WP-plugin for breadcrumbs to operate. I received this info in a separate forum.

On the thumbs issue, I did put in ‘wp-content/uploads’ in the Media Settings ‘Store uploads…’at the beginning of my setup, as I had with other WP sites. I also later tried just ‘uploads’.

I forgot to specify, however, that full size images do appear as expected when I put them in my test posts, it’s only the thumbs don’t show anywhere else such as on the multi-post pages. I will try changing that setting again though.

Any other info or insight appreciated,
    Thanks.

Do you mean that the featured images aren’t showing? If so, are you sure that the themes you have tried support the_thumbnail()?

Still searching for an answer to this issue of thumbnails not showing.

I have since deleted and uploaded all images through Media, which worked as expected. Images and generated thumbs are in the correct place.

Full sized images appear as expected in posts.

    Thumbs appear nowhere.

I have also tried numerous themes, ones I know work with thumbs on other sites.

    Any help appreciated.

    Sorry, our replies crossed.

Featured images do show in posts.

I removed all plugins again, just to check.

I have used several themes, and I’m trying to work with ThemeFrame trying various settings for the thumbs without success.

Do you have a suggestion of a free theme supporting thumbs for me to confirm this problem with?

Twenty Ten (the WP 3x default theme) is always a good yardstick. It supports the _thumbnail.

    Thanks,
I started with Twenty Ten. Thumbs are not showing at default settings, only featured images on Home and Post pages.
Pages such as Tag Archives and Category Archives show no thumbs.

I’m no WP expert, with only a few sites built, so there might be something simple I’m missing here?

Did you modify the 3rd loop in loop.php of Twenty Ten? By default, it’s set to use the_content() on tags and category pages – which should result in images (before any <--more--> tag) being displayed.

I didn’t mod anything on Twenty Ten.

To make sure, I just deleted it and re-installed it.

Have you set a featured image on each of your posts (as opposed to just inserting a thumbnail)?

I may have solved this. Maybe.
I’ll respond after further testing, probably tomorrow due to my schedule.
    Thanks for your input.

Well, the underlying problem is not truly resolved, but a new db and new WP install seems to work. You can end the thread then.
Thanks for all your input, esmi. It’s really appreciated.
