The thumbnails in galleries I add to my site are loading the full original sized images, rather than the “medium” wordpress size as the FAQ says.

Here’s a screenshot using inspect element on the thumbnails gallery. The image is being displayed at 282px, but the file being loaded is the full-sized 1024x683px version. This obviously slows down the page drastically if there are a lot of large images in the gallery.

Can I fix this? Is it a bug?

The actual size of your thumbnails is 300x200px -> https://tradescantia.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/IMG_8507-copy-300×200.jpg This is too small for your gallery (your grid settings require 284×284) and since the cell size differs by more than 10% the gallery loads the next size (large size). In short, you need to tidy up your image copies.

And you also need to understand that changing the media file settings will not change the thumbnails (Medium size) you created earlier.

I see everyone on this forum likes the word bug, but no one uses the forum search ??
