    Hi,
I’ve used NextGen for years with no problems but I noticed this annoying issue yesterday when editing a gallery. I added some images and excluded others. Then saved changes. And then I noticed some thumbnail images started disappearing. I then tried accessing other parts of the dashboard, e.g. media, plugins, pages and nothing would open. “Secure connection to the server could not be established”. When I log in again everything seems to be resolved. It is only when I open NextGen that links stop opening. I rolled back to the previous version of NextGen to see if that would help and I tried deactivating all the other plugins to check for a plugin conflict. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Barb

    Gu @barbiegb,

You’ve mentioned that you have checked for a plugin conflict and tried to rollback to a previous version of NextGen Gallery plugin. Can you please let us know if that changed anything?

No difference with the rollback. No plugin conflicts. Thanks

    Apologies @barbiegb,

This seems to be a problem with the server itself.
Do you have any contact with your hosting provider?
If that so, please share with them the problem that you are experiencing.

Perhaps there is something that is blocking the connection of WordPress on your server-side.

Do you have an SSL certificate? is it possible for you to validate that is working correctly?

Please, keep us posted. We are happy to help!

I have contacted the hosting company. They have checked the server logs and there were no issues detected. The SSL certificate is working correctly.

Any attempt to edit a gallery in wordpress results in a 403 error – ‘access to this resource is forbidden on this server’ or ‘a secure connection to this server could not be established,. Everything else works fine. It is only NextGen that triggers the errors.

    Thanks,
    Barb

    Hi @barbiegb,

Can you please check to ensure that all the requirements listed here are being met: https://www.imagely.com/docs/requirements/

Also, we are wondering if you have already tried to temporarily switch to a theme from the Twenty series.

Switched to 2020 theme and I get the following on each image in the ‘manage gallery’ screen

Notice: Using deprecated API: use $config->set(‘Cache.DefinitionImpl’, …) instead invoked on line 164 in file /home/olive7y3/public_html/slopingpine.ca/wp_site/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/nextgen_data/module.nextgen_data.php in /home/olive7y3/public_html/slopingpine.ca/wp_site/wp-content/plugins/nextgen-gallery/vendor/ezyang/htmlpurifier/library/HTMLPurifier/Config.php on line 901

    Thanks for your help

    Hello @barbiegb,

The “HTMLPurifier” message is an existing bug report, and we will be releasing a new version of the plugin that will correct that message.

Taking a look at your current environment, it looks like you are using an older version of PHP. Is there any reason behind this particular setup?

If that’s not the case, you should ask the hosting provider to match our latest requirements that line up with WordPress’s latest versions.

Note: We recommend creating a full website backup before any troubleshooting.

    Many Thanks.

Sorry. On my control panel php is set to version 7.4. There was a typo in my last message, typed 4 instead of 7.4. Any other suggestions re troubleshooting?
