Hello. Thanks for the cool plugin. One issue I’m encountering is thumbnails have recently started showing up weird (please see example). Most of them are neatly displaying in their native ratio with the post titles clear and legible underneath. But, lately the plugin will pull thumbnails of the same ratio from newer/updated posts, crop the sides off and fill the entire box which disrupts symmetry and makes the post title hard to read. I’m not sure what changed and I can’t seem to find how to resolve and get the problematic ones to look like the rest of the ones pictured. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Sorry for the delayed response – I’ve been away from the site and missed this.
There seems to be an issue with the thumbnails being pulled out. Can you tell me what is your Thumbnail tab settings? Do you have hard crop enabled?

In the thumbnail you have in the above screenshot from what I can see is this pulled the 150×150 thumbnail on your site (you can see it in the name if you view the source). The other seem to be correctly sized thumbs not generated automatically by WordPress.

Hello Sir. Thanks for getting back with me. My Thumbnail tab settings are:

    • Display thumbnails inline with posts, before title
    • crp_thumbnail (150×150 cropped)
    • Thumbnail width/height: 150
    • Hard crop thumbnails ?
    • Generate thumbnail sizes ?
    • Thumbnail size attributes: Use HTML attributes to set the width and height: e.g. width=”250″ height=”250″
    • Thumbnail meta field name: post-image
    • Get first image ?
    • Use default thumbnail? ?
    • Default thumbnail: /wp-content/plugins/contextual-related-posts/default.png

From what I can see, hard crop is enabled and this means that an image will be sized to exactly 150×150 when it is uploaded in WordPress. And because the plugin aims to pull out that image, it prioritises that one. If it can’t then it pulls the closest. So actually what’s happened is that all the images are directly pulled above because it couldn’t find the 150×150 except for the one you had there.

One option is to unselect hard crop and then it tries to maintain aspect ratios – applies only to new images.

Thank you for the advice. I’ll look into it and see what I can work out.
