• on other themes, thumnails of author is able to appear on posts right after the title. but on hueman theme i am unable to make them appear. even when i install plugins like starbox to make the top star theme appear at the top of the post, it doesn’t appear. also when using ultimate member which is supposed to make thumbnail of the author on every single post on other themes this feature works but on hueman it doesn’t. other plugins like display author plugin which displays thumnail and info of author in a sidebar isn’t working. no thumbnail, no author information. regenerate thumbnails is installed and all other plugins that the theme requires i have theme installed and up to date but thumbnails not appearing.

  • Hi bluestandish. I can’t tell you why the plugins don’t work. The only place the theme is designed to display the author’s thumbnail is in the author’s bio at the bottom of the single post content, below the post tags. If the Theme Options > Blog > Single-Author Bio option is ON, and the author account contains Biographical Info, it will be displayed. If the author’s email is linked to a gravatar, that will also be displayed.

    Thank you bdbrown. Plugins like starbox are able to display on the bottom of the post. yes just below the post tags. but some plugins that display above the post , just before the article or content – indicating the post was authored by… – doesn’t get to appear. ulmtimate member is supposed to display thumbnails on top of the page. starbox displays thumbnails below and above the page before teh article. unfortunately ultimate member does not display at all and starbox only displays at the bottom of the page. even when you enable the top star setting which is supposed to make the thumbnail display on top of the post, you don’t get it there still. so as you say the only place the theme is designed to display the author’s thumbnail is in the aurhor’s bio at the bottom of the single post content, below the post tags. is there anyway i can change settings and make thumbnails appear on top of the post and on sidebars too? thank you.

    If you can post a link to your site, and describe exactly where you think the plugins are supposed to display the thumbnail, I can take a look and see if we can determine why it’s not working.

    Hello bdbrown. thank you for getting back to me. here is a link to one of the posts on the website. you realize that the author info which i have enabled appears at the bottom. the plugin is starbox. they have the top star theme. which when enabled the author info which is at the bottom of this page currently should appear after the title of the post where the name of the author is right now even before the content of the article starts. on the side bar too where author display should appear, I am unable to make them appear even when I use the display author widget plugin. when i try these plugins on other themes, they work as they should. even when not using starbox, ultimate member which i am currently using on the site also has that feature of making thumbnails of authors appearing on each post after the title (before the content begins). but even when that is intalled on other themes the thumbnails appear except on hueman theme where no author’s thumbnail appear on the top of posts. Thanks.

    I installed Starbox and did a little testing. The issue is the difference in the way themes lay out the post content. The Top Star theme of the plugin is designed to display the author gravatar to the left of the single post content just below the level of the title. Without the plugin’s css positioning, the gravatar container would be displayed on top of the content at the top left corner, just below the level of the post title. To move the container off the post content the plugin uses css absolute positioning with a negative left attribute. In the default WP Twenty Fifteen theme the article container is wider than the visible post content area; it has an 80px margin on each side. So, when the gravatar container is moved left with the negative attribute, it is still within the article container, so it’s visible. In Hueman the article container does not contain any margin, so the gravatar container is pushed left out of the content area. It’s there, you just can’t see it.

    One fix is to move the post content to the right using this css:

    .single .entry-inner {
        padding-left: 125px;
    }

    I did some limited testing with the shortcode. It appears that if you add the shortcode to a post, the location of the container generated by the shortcode overrides the Up/Down position option in the plugin settings.

    That should help you with Starbox. I would guess the other plugins have similar issues but I don’t have time to dig into all of them.

    Thanks so much bdbrown. I will try the css you have just given me. i tried the shortcode yeah but i was thinking what if i want to change that in the future. or when the plugin is updated in the and the shortcodes have to be changed as some of the plugins do when they upgrade. if i put the shortcodes on every single page, it means i would have to go through all posts to take them off one by one. that would be tedious when you have over 2000 posts by then lol. i would try the shortcode only if there was any way of getting rid of them all at once when the need be. so i guess i would go with the css. I’m most grateful for your tremendous help. you made my day.

    I agree; I wouldn’t use the shortcode in individual posts content either. If you wanted to do it that way your best option would be to modify the single post php file and insert php code to run the shortcode. Still not ideal. Let me know how the CSS works.
