Thumbnails Question

  • OK, I am a bit lost here.

    In my media settings I defined a size for large image with maximum width 1000px maximum height 700px. When I upload a an image sized 1200×797, I then have a Large Image for insertion of… 450×299. How come? Shouldn’t it be 700xsomething?

    I have no plugins whatsoever and for testing purposes I am using the default WP theme.
