thumbnails re-sizing cutting off images

I am building a shopping cart and my original pictures are not perfect squares. I need to make them into squares with white backgrounds without distorting the image because the thumbs that woocomerce generate are showing only a part of the product image.
Is there a way to do this easier using a wordpress plugin because I have tons of images and to do this with photoshop will be way to tedious.
