Thumbnails resized

  • Hello,

    the thumbnails on index page from featured categories: https://i.imgur.com/YM3Wdqz.png looks great for me, they are rectangular as I need them to be. But they are resized versions of big images and I would like them to have changed dimensions because of optimization purposes. I know they’re taken from the post itself as they are the first images there.

    I don’t want to use featured image option, because it makes the thumbnails square and cropped in the center. I have tried changing that with post thumbnail editor plugin, regeerate thumbnails and wordpress image settings, but with no lock.

    How can it be done?

    would suggest attach featured image for the post that fetch first image for featured image so it match.
