Thumbs Won't Open in non-Nextcellent Lightboxes

  • First, thanks for all your work maintaining and improving this plugin. It is my go-to plugin for image and gallery management.

    I’m not as much a fan of the integrated lightbox- which is fine- because Jetpack’s “Carousel” is all I really need.

    But recently I noticed something. Gallery images that are displayed with Nextcellent won’t open in any other lightbox. I have to apologize if there is a simple solution to this issue. I did try to hunt for solutions on Google before posting.

    I Tried Setting “Thumbnail Effect” to none
    And checking “Use ImageBrowser instead of another effect.”
    ImageBrowser probably has nothing to do with it, but i tried anyway.

    Single images and “wordpress galleries” DO open in carousel.

    Just click any of the tabs in the “portfolio” section to see the galleries. Thumbnail effect is currently set to “none”, and “Use ImageBrowser” is un-checked.

    Maybe I need to set “Settings > Effects > JavaScript Thumbnail effect” to custom and add some code in order for Carousel to work?

  • Unfortunately, after some research, I’ve found that the JetPack carousel uses needs more than just JavaScript do enable it.

    That’s why it won’t work with NextCellent at the moment. I will investigate to see if integration can be done, but that will not be for the near future.

    While I find it really stupid it doesn’t work, it just won’t work together at the moment.

    How about Lightbox+Colorbox?

    Depends on what plugin you use. A lot of plugins work out of the box with NextCellent. An example is jQuery Colorbox. However there are many more, and you just need to pick one that suits your needs.
