Ticker No Longer Showing Up

You have a couple different javascript errors happening on your site, which is most likely the cause for my scripts not firing. Is WP 4.5.2 the first version of WP 4.5.x that you have upgraded to? I’ve seen quite a few themes that have not been completely compatible with the newer version of jQuery being loaded in WP 4.5.

Here are the errors I’m seeing (you can see these in your browsers Developer Tools > Console tab):

custom_js.js:7 Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token ILLEGAL

Uncaught Error: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: .mobile_menu > ul > li.has_sub > span.mobile_arrow, .mobile_menu > ul > li.has_sub > h3, .mobile_menu > ul > li.has_sub > a[href*=#]

You can try running through this article https://metaphorcreations.ticksy.com/article/1483/ to test and see where these errors are coming from. I’m guessing at least one is from the theme since it deals with the mobile menu.

I am using Stargazer theme 2.1.1

I notice my ticker isn’t working anymore and have changed themes and it still will not work.

Jetpack version 4.0.2 has been installed and has been de-activated several times.

I notice there is a js error but apparently the javascript is 1.4 version.

I’m seeing this error:

Uncaught Error: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: a.poplight[href^=#]
jquery.js?ver=1.12.3:2

There isn’t any way for me to resolve this error on my end, or to get my ticker working if this error is crashing my scripts. The only resolution is to resolve the error or disable the plugin or theme that is generating it.

I’ve seen quite a few issues with themes and plugins not being compatible with WordPress 4.5’s newer version of javascript.
