• I have tested a bunch of cache plugins and only two cut the mustard with my setup, Wp-Optimize and Litespeed Cache.

Wp-Optimize has basically an on-off switch and there really aren’t many settings to play with. Litespeed has a tremendous number of settings, but they default most of them to off, which takes a lot of testing. Actually I didn’t even know half the settings existed until I started playing around with it today.

So, it looks like a tie between these two caching plugins. Google pagespeed ranks Litespeed a little higher on mobile, but Wp-optimize seemed like it had a slightly faster transfer speed on Pingdom. Honestly, I can’t really tell which one is faster because every time you run a test, there’s slack in the wires so it varies 100-200 ms. Not scientific but Wp-optimize kind of seemed slightly faster on my iPhone self test.

With either Cache plugin, use “Fast Velocity Minify” plugin. Litespeed cache has minify options built in, but having the extra plugin seemed to enhance the speed anyway. Plus I kept getting a google pagespeed notice about an unused CSS script in the cache until I turned the minifier on.

I really wish I could find a definitive test to prove which one is objectively better. If you have a suggestion, I’m all ears.
